Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we hear most from students and families.

When should we start working with a college consultant?

Most families start in freshman or sophomore year for long-term planning around courses and activities, or junior year if the focus is primarily on the college list and applications. It's never too late to start, but earlier engagement gives us more time to build a strong, authentic profile together.

Do you guarantee admission to a specific school?

No ethical consultant can guarantee admission to any particular college — admissions decisions are ultimately up to each school. What we do guarantee is a thoughtful, well-researched college list and the strongest possible application for each school on it.

How is this different from working with a school counselor?

School counselors often manage large caseloads and split their time across many responsibilities. As an independent consultant, our sole focus is your student's admissions journey — with more one-on-one time, deeper essay support, and a fully personalized strategy.

Do you write the essays for my student?

No. We coach, brainstorm, and edit, but every essay is written in the student's own voice. Colleges — and we — want to hear from the student, not a consultant.

What if my student doesn't get into their top-choice school?

Part of our job is building a balanced list of reach, target, and likely schools so that every option on the final list is one your student would be excited to attend. Admissions can be unpredictable, but a well-built list means there's no such thing as a bad outcome.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. Our Full Application Support and Multi-Year Mentorship packages can be split into installments — just ask during your free consultation and we'll walk through the options.

Do you work with students outside of North Dallas?

Yes. While we offer in-person sessions for students in the North Dallas, TX area, we work with students nationwide through virtual sessions.

How long does the process typically take?

It depends on the package and where your student is starting from, but most families work with us anywhere from a few months (essay-focused support) to multiple years (mentorship packages starting in early high school).
